How to Get the Most Out of Your Avera 4K UHD TV

HDMI 2.0 Ports and Cables

HDMI 2.0 is a backwards compatible HDMI specification that increases bandwidth to 18 Gbps and allows for resolutions up to 4K quality (2160p) at up to 60 frames per second.

Currently, the only way to get a 4K picture is with an HDMI connection. Avera’s Equinox 4K UHD TVs are equipped with four HDMI 2.0 ports for maximum entertainment potential.

Though older HDMI version cables will work with HDMI 2.0 ports, a High Speed HDMI cable, also known as a Category 2 cable, will guarantee 4K resolution at up to 60 frames per second. Otherwise with an older cable, 4K resolution is limited to up to 24 frames per second.

A High Speed HDMI cable can be purchased on Amazon.com for under $20.

High Speed Internet

To support the extensive data transmission of 4K content streaming and to avoid long buffering, a high speed Internet connection is crucial.

Netflix recommends a speed of 25 megabits per second to stream their Ultra HD content, while Hulu and Amazon recommend speed of at least 13 megabits per second to stream their 4K Ultra HD content.

Contact your Internet service provider to ensure your service is fast enough to stream 4K content.

4K Compatible Device

There are several 4K compatible device options.

4K content can be streamed using content streaming “sticks” like Roku Ultra, Chromecast Ultra and Amazon Fire Stick. An Xbox One S can also be connected to Internet to stream 4K content from Netflix and Amazon.

A 4K Blu-Ray player, as well as the Xbox One S, can be used to watch 4K Blu-Ray movies.

However, in order to get the true 4K viewing experience, a 4K TV, a 4K compatible device, such as a 4K Blu-Ray player or Chromecast Ultra and 4K content, like a 4K Blu-Ray movie or access to 4K content from a streaming service, are all needed.

Soundbar

A soundbar can be used to complete the 4K viewing experience with high volume and high quality audio. Such audio will keep you engaged in your content and allow you to feel as if you are actually there in the action.

For a good connection, one end of a 3.5mm audio auxiliary cable can be connected to the headphone jack at the rear of the TV and the other end into the AUX IN port of the soundbar.

For the better connection, we recommend using a HDMI connection to connect the soundbar to the TV. A HDMI cable can pass higher resolution audio, including Dolby Audio, and video for a simple all-in-one connection. However, keep in mind that not all soundbars have HDMI ports.

A digital optical audio cable will provide the best and most common connection. With this type of connection, the digital audio signal is converted to light and transported by the cable. As a result, there is no interference or loss of the signal. Simply connect one end of the cable to the optical IN port of the soundbar and the other end to the optical OUT port at the rear of the TV. A digital optical audio cable can be purchased on Amazon.com for under $10.
